Intention: A New Year’s Virtual Art Retreat for 2027, Jan 16-17
Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17, 2027, 10am - 5pm Eastern
It’s easy to lose sight of what motivated you and your artmaking throughout the year, and the New Year is a perfect time to come back to yourself and your creativity as you set your intentions for the year to come.
You’re invited to spend a weekend making, creating, reflecting, and sharing from the comfort of your own home or studio. Explore words, images, and art materials as you look back at the year that was and set your intentions for the year to come. Envision what the New Year can bring for you, and engage in structured exploration, independent inquiry, and quiet contemplation as you dive deeply into your inner world.
Join a community of other creative souls for this unique experience as you deepen your artistic practice, learn more about yourself, and look forward to what the future holds. Walk away feeling more intentional with yourself and your art.
This is a pay-what-you-can workshop, so please select what you would like to pay below and we will meet through Zoom the day of the workshop.

Supplies Needed:
A visual journal, sketchbook, or loose paper - A mixed media journal is a good choice since it has paper designed to withstand a wide variety of paints, but use whatever works for you. It does not need to be a new book. Or use a number of loose pieces of paper to make individual works of art.
Paint - Watercolor and acrylic will both work. I’ll be using watercolor paint and watercolor pencil
Mark making items - It’s always great to create interesting marks and textures with paint. I love using plastic mesh, bubble wrap, cardboard, string, and even my fingers to play with how I apply paint.
Variety of paint brushes
Scissors
Glue Stick - I like UHU, but if you’re using acrylic paint, acrylic medium is suitable
Markers, pens, and pencils - a variety of waterproof and water-soluble writing and drawing materials; paint markers are great to use
Papers - I like having a variety of loose papers to use in my journaling, and I always have tracing paper, drawing paper, and colored papers on hand.
Collage materials - We’ll be using an assortment of items to glue into the journal, but try to find things that are personal. I love using movie tickets, mementos from travel, post cards, bottle labels, and other ephemera that I accumulate in day-to-day life.
