Play: Intuitive Mixed Media

from $15.00

This is now a self-paced workshop, and links to recorded videos will be emailed after purchase.

Feeling stuck? Need a creative release? Come out and play with your art materials, and learn how intuition and risk taking can unlock ideas and direction. We’ll face our inhibitions as we work small and engage in a number of techniques and strategies to trust our gut and make with reckless abandon. Meaning is in the making, so join in to make, make, make, and see where it will take you.

This full-day online workshop is designed to challenge us in a variety of ways as we explore our intuitive senses as a way to push us in new directions.

This was originally an all-day workshop where we met on Zoom for 6 hours with an hour break for lunch.

This is a pay-what-you-can workshop, so please select what you would like to pay below. Once you pay, you will be emailed the links to the recorded videos, typically within 24 hrs of purchase. This will be a separate email that I send out personally, and it is different from the order confirmation that you will receive automatically after purchase.

Supplies Needed:

  • Paper - Work small! Small pieces of mixed media paper are perfect — 4x4 inches to 5x7 inches is a good size. I like Strathmore 400 Series Mixed Media Paper, but feel free to work in a journal as well.

  • Paint - Watercolor and acrylic will both work. I’ll be using watercolor paint and watercolor pencil.

  • Mark making items - It’s always great to create interesting marks and textures with paint. I love using plastic mesh, bubble wrap, cardboard, string, and even my fingers to play with how I apply paint.

  • Variety of paint brushes

  • Scissors

  • Glue Stick - I like UHU, but if you’re using acrylic paint, acrylic medium is suitable

  • Markers, pens, and pencils - a variety of waterproof and water-soluble writing and drawing materials; paint markers are great to use

  • Collage materials - Have a variety of ephemera to use. Have some generic collage materials like colored or patterned papers — I love using craft paper, inside of security envelopes, and maps. Also, have some more specific and meaningful collage materials as well like photos, old artwork, and magazine images.
